How did all the men relate to the Gothic Theme?
After I listened to the BBC radio podcast, I had a few different opinions about what they said. I really liked how they tied Charlotte Bronte's life into the book. It was helpful to understand how she wrote somewhat about herself. Something I didn't like was how they went off on little bunny trails and ranted about things that poorly related to the book. They talked about how all of the men in Jane's life were symbols of the Gothic theme. This is very visible because her uncle isn't alive for most of her life so he is uninvolved. Brockelhurst was very severe and strict, this is how a lot of things were during the Gothic era and Victorian era. Rochester was also this way, he was very serious and only broke that seriousness sometimes when he was with Jane.
