Men in Jane's Life

The 43 minutes of the podcast were information filled, and a great listen. The good things about the podcast were that the people went into great detail about the plot of the novel, and the ways that Jane went from place to place. Jane went from Gateshead, to Lowood, to Thornfield, to the Moor house, and lastly to Rochester at Ferndean. In most places, Jane met a nice man who wanted to take her hand in marriage, or had a big influence on her. The cons about the podcast were that they would just talk about somewhat random topics about the past, and it wouldn't even be about the book. The people would go on and on, and it wasn't interesting at all.

The men in Jane's life made a large influence in her life, in many ways. St. John had an influence on her life, as he also asked her to marry him, and go with him to India. He wanted her to go with him as a missionary, and learn more about God, preaching to others. She came more into her faith with him, but she refused to marry and go with him. The main man, Mr. Rochester, ended up marrying Jane the second time, after she came to see him at Ferndean. She ended up marrying him, even though he was disabled. These men had a huge influence in Jane's life.

  1. I agree that the men in Jane Eyre's life play a very significant role. Whether it's religion or emotionally, there always seems to be a man somewhere in the story. Even though Jane is such a strong female character, it's important for her to have male roles to balance out or create conflict for the story.
