Why was Jane so obsessed with Blanche, wanting to know what she looked like?
Jane Eyre thinks that Mr. Rochester is interested in Blanche Ingram, so she is jealous of her. Jane wants to know what Blanche looks like, so she would know who her competition is for Mr. Rochester. She is obsessed with her, as she has fallen for Mr. Rochester, and she believes that Ingram has also. We then see that Ingram is most likely just interested in Mr. Rochester's wealth.

I'd have to agree with you. I think Jane Eyre is infatuated with Mr. Rochester and is becoming jealous of anyone who might have a relationship with him. Similar to Jane jumping to assumptions and thinking Mr. Rochester and Grace Poole had a relationship, Jane is doing the same thing again.
