Why does Mr. Rochester keep Adele at Thornfield when there's a mad women upstairs?
The only reason I can think of is that he wants to keep his mistakes in the same place. He regrets marrying Bertha and he regrets sleeping with Celeine. So he wants to keep his regrets and 'mistakes' in the same place.
I agree with you Jenae. I feel that Mr Rochester feels bad about what he had done in both areas. He feels bad that he married this woman and he let her go mad. He also feels bad that he may or may not be the father of Adele and I bet he couldn't bear leaving a child behind.
Mr. Rochester was planning on moving away and I think he was certain that she wasn't going to escape and hurt anyone she didn't know.
