What would Jane's life be like if her uncle was still alive?-Tana Bond

I believe Jane's life would be a bit better, but she probably would be completely different. Instead of being a strong independent girl figure she is, she'd be similar to Georgiana and Eliza. More focused on her looks or how she acts than her mind. Her uncle would at least show her someone in her world loves her and wouldn't punish her like Bessie and Abbot do.  He'd possibly treat her like a third daughter instead of the problem child like Mrs. Reed does.

  1. I agree with you here. It sounded like Jane's uncle was a compassionate man with decent morals, and I highly doubt he would have tolerated his wife treating Jane like a prisoner, locking her in a creepy red room for hours at a time. Additionally, I believe Mrs. Reed may have had a bit of a rough time properly mothering her own biological children, considering she was blind to her son John taunting and attacking Jane. Perhaps another parent in the household would have made a positive impact on John's behavior, reducing the daily torment Jane had to go through.

  2. I entirely agree with you. Her confidence would go down quite a bit and be not as bold as she is now. Though I don't know if Mr. Reed would entirely accept her as his own. He would still love her but maybe not give her all the attention as the other girls. I also believe that Mrs. Reed would still be rude to her and treat her differently, and make it quite obvious.

  3. I agree with you, I think that she would be a completely different person if her uncle was still alive. The way it sounds, he would've treated her like an actual person, which is something that Mrs. Reed never does. Even though Mrs. Reed would probably still treat her the way she does, I think Mr. Reed would have made some sort of effort to be a better person and accept her.

  5. I totally agree, she would feel differently about everything. She would feel loved and wanted. I think she wondered the same thing at times, because everyone else seemed to hate her.
