Do you think that Jane Eyre is more like Cinderella or Beauty and the Beast?
There are many ways that I have seen in this story that can relate to both Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast. I can't decide which one I feel it is more like. For example, in Cinderella, Cinderella lost her parents at a young age and so did Jane, and Cinderella’s step mom was always mean to her just like Jane’s aunt was always mean to her. But on the other hand, I feel like it is kind of like Beauty and the Beast in the “love story” aspect. In Beauty and the Beast, the Beast is mean at first and then Belle makes him turn nice once he starts to catch feelings for Jane. That is kind of like Jane Eyre because Mr. Rochester is mean when he first meets Jane and then once he starts to like Jane, he starts to become really nice. So, do you think that Jane Eyre is more like Cinderella or Beauty and the Beast? Also, what else did you see that related to these?

Cinderella: In Cinderella she also has the step sisters and in this instance its the cousins. Though Jack is dead there are still the two sisters which I think represent the sisters perfectly. Though they treat Cinderella/Jane Eyre like trash in the beginning they come to realization that one of them is either a princess or a successful governess. Cinderella fits the family role perfectly.
ReplyDeleteCinderella. Although there are some similarities between Jane and Belle, she is more like Cinderella. She has evil relatives and an extremely difficult childhood. Both Cinderella and Jane have deep thoughts about love and they both end up becoming something they wished of at one time.
ReplyDeleteI think it's beauty and the beast because they both lost their mothers and they love the beast.
ReplyDeleteI don't care to think of Jane in terms of Disney characters or even a traditional feminine character. She has a lot more spunk and depth than either Cinderella or Bella. However, I can see some similarities to both and would like to see Disney do a version of this novel to attract a modern audience. Jane would offer girls a better role model than either because she made her way on her own and didn't need Rochester. In fact, she was far superior than him in many ways, something I don't see with either of the females in these other shows.
