Why doesn't Jane question more about her family?

I understand that she was told they are all dead but why doesn't she ask more about them. This is likely because she is afraid. However, we have seen her do more courageous things. She is a curious girl so she must be curios about her family. Not  just the family she could possibly have but the family she already had, including her dead parents. If I were Jane i'd definitely want to know what my parents where like before they died.

  1. Jane has been taught that she was a loner from the beginning of her life; moreover, Jane has been shaped to be an independent woman. The idea of family may scare Jane, because Jane has always been by herself and when she was with family she was hated. Jane might be afraid to find family due to her life experiences. This may sway her search to finding family. In all, Jane may not want to find family because she is afraid of going against everything she knows.
