Do you think that Charlotte Bronte is trying to prove something about the Victorian days or just show her perspective of her childhood?

In the seminar today, someone talked about how they think that the way Charlotte Bronte represents this time period is her showing to maybe try to say something. But, I don't agree with that. I fully think that Bronte is just trying to show her childhood the way she saw it with a little bit of exaggeration. The way the author uses so many references from her childhood is trying to show that.
