Christ-Like Characters

I read the article Many Faces of Jesus in Steinbeck's GOW by Rachel McCoppin. This is a great article that talks about the way Jesus was involved in this novel. The author talks about the altruistic characters in Grapes of Wrath. The Christ-like characters incorporate features of the American Romance in order to locate them during the Great Depression. This novel shows a connection between the traditional Christ-like figures and the noble characters in the novel. An example of a direct Christ-like character in the novel is Casy, as he was a former preacher, even though he says that he has lost the spirit. This is a very interesting article and I will likely use this in my paper. This would be a great source to use for the Christ-like character topic. Link to article

  1. This is definitely something I've noticed throughout the reading GOW. I think it brings an interesting comparison to a book that sometimes may feel a little bland or slow. I don't think I'm going to use Christ like figures as a topic in my paper but this does seem like a very good article.

  2. I think that it can definitely be hard to find evidence of christ-like figure but this article looks like it could help anyone with this topic a lot. So this is a article that is really eye opening and looks like it would help point out things that people generally wouldn't notice.
