I read the article Steinbeck and the Great Depression by Morris Dickstein.  This article is great one that shows how Steinbeck could really open up the eyes of others about the great depression.  The author also talked about the bleak living conditions of migrant workers.  How the migrant workers in The Grapes of Wrath and other books live very unhealthy lives.  Steinbeck was extremely good at being able to show what these conditions were like.  I think this source could be picked apart and used for different topics but most useful for the topic migrant workers.
