Why did Jane feel it was necessary to draw the pictures of her and Miss Ingram
I understand that she wanted to prevent herself from loving Mr Rochester but why did she want to put herself through the torture of telling herself she was inferior. Possibly the torture of not being able to love Mr Rochester was a greater pain for her at the time. But still why would she want to do that. Its borderline insane. Its almost as if she was obsessed with them. Kinda creepy in my opinion.

I think that the reason she told herself that she wasn't worthy of Mr. Rochester was because she thought that he would be marrying Blanche and it would be wrong for her to love a married man. She knew that Miss Ingram is the most beautiful woman that was there at the party and so she knew she stood no chance against her in winning Mr. Rochester's love. Jane would rather deal with the pain of telling herself that she has no chance rather than leaving Thornfield and leaving Mr. Rochester because she still wants to see and talk to Mr. Rochester even despite this.
