What makes Jane not reach out to her Uncle and go live with him?

For me this has been a tough question I have been pondering all throughout this reading.  He has said that all his inheritance could go to her but yet she stays.  Even when she leaves Thornfield and becomes a beggar.  She could have easily reached it to her uncle before she left but instead she decided she had to go out on her own.  So I think it is just self pride that she doesn't.  She thinks she can be all dependent and she doesn't need his money or his help.
