After Mr Rochester and Jane are engaged why doesn't she ask about Mr Mason or what/who attacked him?

Okay so if I were Jane pretty much right away I would ask what in the heck attacked Mr Mason. For real even after it happened id be like what in tarnation is living here. She could think its grace Poole but why couldn't she ask. I don't know im just confused.
